Procurement Officer — Oil & Gas & Industrial Supply

Procurement & Supply Chain Full-time Lagos

About the role

We are looking for a detail-oriented Procurement Officer to manage the sourcing and supply of industrial equipment, materials, and consumables for our oil & gas and manufacturing clients. You will own the full procurement cycle — from vendor qualification and purchase order placement through expediting, quality verification, and delivery documentation. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands industrial specification, knows how to manage suppliers under pressure, and takes personal accountability for delivery outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end procurement for client requirements across oil & gas, manufacturing, and industrial sectors — from requisition receipt to confirmed delivery on site
  • Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers across equipment, spares, materials, and consumables categories; maintain and update the approved vendor list
  • Prepare and issue RFQs, evaluate quotations against technical specifications and commercial terms, and present clear recommendations to management
  • Raise and track purchase orders; conduct active expediting to confirm production status, dispatch timelines, and delivery dates — flagging slippage early
  • Coordinate import logistics, customs documentation, and last-mile delivery for international and local supply; liaise with freight and clearing agents
  • Conduct or coordinate pre-delivery quality checks to verify goods against client specifications before acceptance
  • Maintain complete, audit-ready procurement documentation for all transactions — POs, delivery notes, inspection records, and supplier correspondence
  • Support preparation of procurement reports, cost analyses, and vendor performance reviews for management and client reporting
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with applicable local content requirements, client procurement policies, and company standards
  • Collaborate with the project management and facility maintenance teams to align procurement schedules with project milestones and maintenance plans

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of procurement experience in an industrial, oil & gas, or engineering services environment
  • Demonstrable experience managing the full procurement cycle — requisition, sourcing, ordering, expediting, and delivery
  • Sound understanding of industrial equipment and materials specifications; ability to read and interpret technical datasheets and purchase requisitions
  • Experience with vendor qualification, approved vendor list management, and supplier performance tracking
  • Working knowledge of import logistics, Nigerian customs procedures, and clearing documentation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); experience with any ERP or procurement management system is an advantage
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills — able to correspond professionally with suppliers, clients, and internal teams
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills; able to manage multiple concurrent requisitions without losing track
  • Familiarity with Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) local content requirements is an advantage

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) local content requirements is an advantage
  • Experience procuring for international oil companies (IOCs) or their Tier 1 contractors operating in Nigeria
  • Knowledge of HSE requirements relevant to the receipt and handling of industrial materials
  • Experience working in an indigenous Nigerian service company serving the oil & gas sector
  • Familiarity with Incoterms and international trade documentation
