Site Engineer — Civil & Industrial Construction

Construction & Civil Engineering Full-time Lagos

About the role

Rigobera Solutions is seeking a capable Site Engineer to oversee civil and industrial construction projects for our clients across oil & gas, manufacturing, and the private sector. You will be responsible for day-to-day technical supervision on site — ensuring work is executed to specification, to programme, and to safety standard. This role suits an engineer who is comfortable taking ownership on site and has the discipline to document properly and communicate clearly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day technical supervision on construction sites — commercial, civil, and industrial projects — ensuring work is executed to approved drawings, specifications, and standards
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and BOQs; brief site crews and subcontractors on scope and quality requirements before work commences
  • Monitor construction progress against the approved programme; identify potential delays early and escalate to the project manager with a recommended resolution
  • Conduct quality checks at key construction stages — foundations, structural works, finishes — and document findings with photographic records
  • Ensure all site activities comply with the project HSE plan; conduct daily toolbox talks, enforce PPE requirements, and maintain the site incident log
  • Coordinate with the procurement team on material delivery schedules; inspect incoming materials against specifications and reject non-conforming items
  • Maintain a daily site diary capturing work done, resources deployed, weather, and any issues encountered
  • Liaise with client representatives and consultant engineers during site inspections; prepare and respond to technical queries (RFIs)
  • Support the preparation of interim payment applications by providing accurate measurement and documentation of completed work
  • Ensure site is handed over clean, documented, and snag-free at project completion

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of post-NYSC site engineering experience on commercial, civil, or industrial construction projects
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and BOQs accurately
  • Practical understanding of construction methods for concrete works, structural steel, masonry, and finishes
  • Working knowledge of construction HSE requirements and site safety management
  • Experience coordinating with subcontractors, suppliers, and client representatives on active construction sites
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is an advantage; strong MS Office skills required
  • Registered or eligible for registration with COREN is an advantage
  • Strong written communication skills — able to prepare site reports, RFI responses, and meeting minutes

Nice to Have

  • Postgraduate diploma or certification in Project Management
  • Experience with project management software (MS Project, Primavera)
  • Experience on industrial or manufacturing facility construction projects
  • Familiarity with oil & gas facility construction standards (e.g. NORSOK, API)
